Dienes Employee Receives Patent
Ken Stidsen Jr. a Mechanical Design Engineer at Dienes Corporation was presented with a patent for the "Quick Change Bottom Knife Head" this past week.
The Dienes patented "Quick Change Bottom Knife Head" dramatically reduces maintenance downtime on the company's equipment. In this products case, it reduces knife change downtime to less than 30 seconds. The knife is designed to fit one of Dienes' AC variable speed motors. These motors used instead of an expanding airshaft, allow wider webs to run at speeds to 8,000 FPM. Motors have a variety of mounting options on retrofit or new machinery.
The "Quick Change Knives" are double sided and made from carbide steel. With a simple air connection and turn of the knife, the motor is ready for a new knife-edge.
