Dienes - The Cutting Edge

Dienes Werke für Maschinenteile is based east of Cologne. The company was formed in 1913 and straightaway became an important tool maker for the paper industry.

The company has over 200 tool making machines, representing millions of DM investment. Some are manually operated, some electronically controlled, working to manufacture cutting tools for the paper, film, foil, nonwovens and metal industry.

Stringent incoming inspection procedures utilizing, ultrasonic test equipment, guarantee detection of material defects prior to machining. The equipment used in the process of machining the products is mainly German, and meets the latest high-tech standards of the machine tools available.

In many cases the first operation performed on a circular knife is the stamping operation. For this reason Dienes maintains its own stamping department, equipped with hydraulic and mechanical presses with a capacity of up to 250 tons.

In order to maintain the high level of quality, the inspection department uses the latest methods available for inspecting its own products such as fully computerized measuring machines, surface and hardness testers and special inspection equipment, which guarantee the detection of flaws and confirm the drawing specifications.

Our engineering department are constantly developing new products designed according to application and customer needs. This has resulted in more than 400 knife holder designs available from Dienes apart from the standard holder designs.

Dienes other plants are Messerfabrik Neuenkamp and Johann Krumm in Germany, and subsidiaries in Hungary, Poland and Massachusetts (US).
